Carreers

At Nanoligent, we are building a new generation of precision medicines: protein-based nanoparticles designed to reach cancer cells selectively while sparing healthy tissue. As a spin-off of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Sant Pau Research Institute, we combine the rigor of academic science with the energy of a growing biotech company. Our team is multidisciplinary and closely connected, so everyone’s work makes a visible difference.

If you want your work to help shape the future of cancer treatment, we would love to hear from you.

This position is part of a collaborative project between Nanoligent and the Oncogenesis and Antitumor Drug Group (GOA) at the Sant Pau Research Institute (IR Sant Pau), led by Dr. Ramon Mangues. GOA focuses on developing cancer mouse models and studying novel nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery in solid and hematologic neoplasias (learn more about GOA). Together, we are developing a novel protein-based nanotechnology platform for the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents, with the aim of generating high-quality drug candidates for clinical oncology.

The position is based in the GOA laboratory at IR Sant Pau, working closely with both the GOA and Nanoligent teams. We are looking for a biomedical scientist with a PhD and research experience in preclinical cancer research, preferably focused on novel anticancer therapies.

Tasks
  • Design, establish and validate in vitro and in vivo cancer models to evaluate drug efficacy and PK/PD.
  • Design and perform cellular and molecular experiments to investigate drug mechanism of action and support preclinical drug development.
  • Perform in vitro studies, including cell-based assays, drug response studies, flow cytometry and molecular and biochemical analyses.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts and project summaries, and communicate results in internal meetings and scientific conferences.
  • Coordinate experimental activities and internal and external collaborations related to the project.
  • Participate in GOA and Nanoligent scientific meetings.
Requirements
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedicine or a related field.
  • Research experience in cancer biology, pharmacology or preclinical drug development.
  • Experience in cellular and molecular biology, including mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, immunoassays and flow cytometry.
  • Hands-on in vivo pharmacology experience in an academic or industry environment, preferably using animal models of cancer.
  • Official certificate for the use of animals for scientific purposes.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Highly motivated, methodical, results-oriented and well organized.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
We offer
  • Full-time position contracted by IR Sant Pau, within the GOA group, as part of a 17-month collaborative research project between GOA and Nanoligent.
  • Involvement in the drug development strategy of a fast-growing biotech start-up, with potential to continue in the company beyond the initial project.
  • Salary: €32,000–34,000 per year.
  • Laboratory located at IR Sant Pau (C/ Sant Quintí 77, 08041 Barcelona), in close collaboration with the Nanoligent team.
  • Starting date: 2 November 2026.
